Senior High

In the Westminster Catechism the reader is asked this question: what is the chief end of man? The answer is well known but bears repeating: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. You may be wondering at this point why this question would be addressed on a youth web page. That is a fair question to ask. Let me see if I can answer it.

We are told in Hebrews that it is for man to live, die, and then face judgment. A stark contrast from the world’s answer to meaning. The world would be more apt to answer the question of man’s chief end by saying “eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die.”

In our post-modern context where truth is thought to be relative and meaning is what we make it, it is crucial that God’s Word remains central in order to ground our children in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Why? Because at Christ the Redeemer our deep and abiding desire is to glorify Christ in all that we do. And we believe the best way to know Christ and His gospel is through His Word, the Bible. Therefore you will see God’s Word central at each activity we do.

Jesus said, “ I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” So then, you will find that our youth programs are not concerned with program. We are interested in gospel-growth. Growth based on the gospel of Jesus Christ as His Spirit shapes and molds us into His image. As our children grow up in the fear and admonition of the Lord we want them equipped as they venture out into the world to minister with the gospel. Jesus is interested in people, not agendas, so our goal is to build up the young saints of this world with knowledge of the Lord.

We are a ministry that “comes alongside” those parents who are already discipling their children in the Lord and a place where young people, who may not have a gospel witness in the home, are introduced to the claims of the Lord Jesus and then nourished on His Word.

To return to the first question of the Westminster Catechism; Christ the Redeemer’s youth programs exist to glorify and enjoy God as we build a community of gospel-centered people. There is a purpose to life which can only be found in Jesus Christ.
